Mission
To move the people of God to embrace, live out, preserve and advance the truth of biblical sexuality.
Goals
Operating under the prompting of the Holy Spirit and desiring all people to live under the Lordship of Christ, we seek to:
- Educate the Christian community on sexual ethics according to a biblical worldview.
- Encourage and challenge Christians to live sexually pure lives.
- Engage Christians in public policy relative to sexual ethics.
- Embrace those harmed by pornography and help restore them to sexual wholeness.
Strategies
The sexualized messages of our culture continue to undermine biblical morality and destroy lives. To counteract these forces, the National Coalition has created three key strategies:
1. Serving the Church
Church Outreach
Through our Church Outreach program, we work to engage Christians in the cultural battle by educating and equipping them with the Christian apologetic for chaste and moral relationships. By equipping Christians with a more comprehensive understanding of the relevant cultural issues we hope to invigorate them to become active in applying their faith in matters of public policy and moral debate related to sexual ethics.
Married4Ever
While the National Coalition has focused much of its energy on the distribution of harmful sexualized messages, we strongly encourage a healthy, biblical perspective of sexuality. Through Married4Ever, the National Coalition is leading a task force comprised of pastors and business leaders to strengthen and protect marriage. The task force will train pastors and lay leaders in premarital mentoring, programs for blended families, services for hurting marriages, enrichment classes for healthy marriages and mentoring programs for young couples.
iCare...about protecting children
The National Coalition is calling the women of America to band together in prayer and action for the protection of our nation's children. Through twice monthly iCare eNews, we educate, train and mobilize women to rise up and stand against the assault attacking the innocence of our youth.
Cultural Apologetics
Through Cultural Apologetics, the National Coalition addresses relevant social and moral issues for the purpose of equipping Christians with an intelligent defense of biblical truth in the matters of moral and ethical conflict in today's culture. The growth and influence of Cultural Apologetics continues to distinguish the National Coalition as a relevant thought leader in the cultural battle.
2. Restoring the Broken
Confidential HelpLine
The 1-800 HelpLine offers hope and healing to those harmed by pornography and the sexualized messages of the culture. Callers include those whose lives have been broken by sexual addiction, their family members and friends, and professionals and pastors seeking information and consultation. The HelpLine is available to offer crisis intervention, pastoral counseling and referrals to treatment centers in the caller's community.
For Men Only Support Groups
These weekly support groups for men struggling with sexual integrity provide accountability and a proven approach to empower men to reach sexual wholeness. The confidential groups are led by men who have battled sexual addiction themselves and understand the hardships associated with sexual sin.
Educational Conferences
A variety of conferences are held across the country to assist denominational leaders, pastors, staff personnel and lay leaders in tackling the difficult issues of sexual addiction and pornography with confidence, clarity and biblical perspective. Through these events,w e work with professional experts to train church leadership to lead people out from the shadows of sexual sin into a place where they can develop an intimate relationship with God.
3. Engaging the Culture
Wireless Technology and Mobile Entertainment
The development of wireless devices such as mobile phones, iPods, and gaming stations present a new distribution system for pornography, sexual music videos, adult video games and other sexually explicit material. The National Coalition is meeting the challenge through interactions with the CTIA - The Wireless Association, Federal Communications Commission and Department of Justice.
Legal & Public Policy
Our goal through Legal & Public Policy is to influence governmental agencies, legislation, and the policies of major corporations related to sexual ethics. We provide ongoing support to citizens seeking to control the growth and operation of sexually oriented businesses in their communities by developing grassroots efforts to identify businesses and reduce or eliminate their harmful effects.
